How to send a photo that self-destructs

A practical guide to sending a time-limited photo that disappears after the first view, with no account and nothing to install.

The short answer

On AnonShot, upload your photo, enable the burn-after-read option, then share the generated short link. As soon as the recipient opens the link, the photo is permanently deleted from the servers — no account, no app required.

Why send a self-destructing photo

Some photos only need to exist long enough to be seen once: an ID for a one-off verification, a confidential document, an embarrassing screenshot. Leaving a permanent link floating online is an unnecessary risk.

Self-destruct guarantees that even if the link resurfaces later (browser history, a screenshot of the URL, etc.), the image is no longer accessible after the first open.

Step-by-step

1. Open AnonShot and select your image, no account needed. 2. Check the "burn after read" option. 3. Add a password for double protection if you want. 4. Copy the generated short link and send it through whichever channel you prefer (messaging app, email).

The recipient clicks the link, sees the photo, and it's immediately wiped from the server. If you reopen the link yourself afterward, it will no longer work.

Best practices

Always combine self-destruct with a password for sensitive documents: even if the link is intercepted before the first view, the password remains an extra barrier.

Avoid sending the password through the same channel as the link — use a second channel instead (SMS if the link was sent by email, for example).
