The limits of rating forums

On those forums your photo is public and indexed, your username links all your posts together, and comments can be hurtful or creepy. Many people delete their post later, but copies and archives remain.

What's different on the Exchange

No public thread and no comments: each photo is rated 0 to 10 by participants who have posted themselves. You see your average, number of ratings and elo, without ever seeing a username.

Getting a fairer score

Natural light, a neutral background, a sharp shot and framing that shows off what you want to show do more than any filter. Add tags: they steer your photo towards people looking for that style.

Why rating is mandatory

To see the next photo you rate the current one. That way every photo gets ratings and everyone takes part. Giving a 10/10 unlocks bonus photos; ratings that are too low invite you to post better photos.

Staying anonymous

Even without a username a photo can give you away: keep your face, tattoos and recognisable parts of your room out of frame if you don't want to be identified.
