The short answer

iOS lets you drop the location when sharing, but not the rest of the metadata. For a complete clean-up with no app to install, upload the photo to AnonShot: EXIF data is stripped on upload and the link you get points to a clean file.

The built-in iOS option, and its limit

In the Photos app, open an image, tap the share button, then "Options" at the top of the share sheet. Turn off "Location". The photo now leaves without GPS coordinates.

That toggle only handles location. The iPhone model, capture date, lens settings and orientation stay written in the file. For a photo headed to a forum or a stranger, that is often not enough.

Cut location off at the source

If you regularly photograph documents or items to resell, disable geotagging upfront rather than at every share.

Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Camera, then "Never".
Photos taken afterwards carry no coordinates at all, with nothing to remember at send time.
Photos already taken are unaffected: they still need handling separately.

Check what the photo actually contains

In Photos, open the image and swipe up, or tap the info icon. iOS shows the device, lens, resolution and, when present, a map of where it was taken.

If a map appears, the photo contains coordinates. You can strip them right there with "Adjust", then removing the location.

Full clean-up at share time

Uploading the photo to AnonShot from Safari removes all sensitive metadata and produces a re-encoded image, with nothing to install. You get a short link that can be password-protected and set to self-destruct after reading.
